We are going to take our resting heart rates as soon as we wake up before our feet even hit the floor. So keep a stop watch/timer beside your bed where you will see it in the morning so you don't forget. If you're heart rate is lower than what the doc says up there thats a good thing. This is a true resting heart rate, he's referring to a normal resting heart rate (not taken out of a sleep). Also, with very fit individuals its not uncommon to see true resting heart rates in the 30's.
